Lester Amacio
Born from Iloilo City, visual artist and curator Lester Amacio entered the art scene with his defined skill. He has a background in Painting from University of San Agustin and Photography from West Visayas State University. Currently living and working in both the Philippines and the Middle East, Amacio has proven his mettle in visual art and gained recognition from prestigious competitions, residencies, as well as solo exhibitions. He integrates poetics into his practice, his works being “conceptual representations” of his inner musings.
Amacio believes that creating art is a reflection of his deeply active subconscious, shaped by years spent overseas. His work, a mix of beauty and melancholy expressed through architectural elements, captures a sense of longing for home while finding comfort in the artistic process.
He has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions across the Philippines, Singapore, Italy, and the UAE. Furthermore, he has held 10 solo exhibitions since 2009. In 2005 and 2006, Amacio was a semi-finalist in the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) competition. He also received the Juror’s Choice award at the Philippine Art Awards for the Visayas Region in 2011, which led to his being a national finalist in the same competition in 2012.
